I recently received an invitation to an upcoming event in Salt Lake City called Moms Who Make It. The entire day's focus is how to take your life to the next level and loading you with tools. The agenda promises something for everyone and is jam-packed with some great ideas and speakers.
Check it out at:

What is your desire?
What is your passion?
What is your dream?
What is your obstacle?
What's still on that list from your childhood, or college, or last year? What are those things you wanted to do for you, or the community, or the world? Make a commitment to yourself to steal a few moments to reconnect with your true self and remember a few things you've always wanted to accomplish and what is still standing in the way.
Maybe there are a few nuggets of wisdom at this upcoming event that will assist you in dusting off a dream and putting some rocketfuel in the tank.
If you have the courage...
Empower You. Empower Me. Empower the World.

Found it.
My true purpose in life is to learn, teach, inspire, love.
By writing. By writing what I feel, and sharing it with the world. By not being afraid to voice what is truly within me…the anger, the passion, the love, the compassion, the tolerance. The world is begging for leadership, passion, love, light and truth. I am that light and truth. Anyone can sugar-coat life….it takes courage to put voice to the things others are afraid to say.
It is my NEW commitment that I will blog every morning. About what, I have no idea, but it’s time to start being the leader other’s are looking for. The leader my mentors see, the leaders my peers recognize. The challenge is nearly terrifying, and I’ve clearly shied away from it for a very long time. Today I answered the question, “What is my TRUE purpose in life?” It took a lot of silly answers to get to this one, and yet it comes as no surprise, and I’ve known it all along.
It’s time to dig deep, to give the world what it is crying out for. If I have the ability to impact even one life, then I must.
Empower You, Empower Me…simple words, huge challenge. Are you up for it? I am.

Who am I?
I subscribe to a ridiculous number of daily emails. The common theme is "empowerment." Most days I barely have time to scan the subject, let alone dive into what I am certain is amazing, inspiring content. The irony of one post today caused me to pause. Marilyn Tam wrote that to achieve balance, I need to follow my passion. Her suggestion to quiet the outside noise by making time to meditate, journal, or sit quietly is such a struggle for me. I was recently challenged to meditate for ten minutes in the morning. TEN MINUTES!! It might as well have been an hour...I have managed to do it twice now. It makes a huge difference in my day...but I cannot seem to carve out TEN MINUTES.
SERIOUSLY??! It's ten minutes. Is my life so busy I can't spare ten minutes? Apparently.
And then I wonder why the other women in my life are too busy to put their dreams first.
I can't even put myself first.
The rest of Marilyn's post was nearly lost on me, but it is my continual struggle...to realize my passion. What is it I love to do? What energizes me, what excites me to endless creativity?
I guess if I could carve out that 10 minutes I just might figure it out... I'll let you know how that goes.

Turning back the clock...
The Stock Market. Wall Street. Real Estate.
Benchmarks. Unmovable structures of time-honored wealth. Until now.
With the recent demise of American economy, individuals are reevaluating priorities and measuring sticks. Materialism is on the way out, old-world family values on the way in. Little steps are manifesting across the country, evaluations of what really matters.
Families are gathering back around the dinner table, but tonight’s meal hasn’t been delivered or traveled through a drive-up window. This meal is a time machine of its own, a trip back to simpler times. For a fraction of the cost, a typical American family of four enjoys a wholesome meal, concocted with love.
This spring new seeds of change will be sown in patches of dirt that once held grass and fancy shrubs. Neighborhoods are changing to make way for the past, water-hungry grass is relinquishing its hold to life-giving gardens.
Expensive weekends of traveling are now spent at home with Mother Nature. Tomorrow’s meal will emerge from the earth, tended from planting to harvest with a family’s combined effort of love, patience, and togetherness.
Soon, every home will find a small patch in the manicured lawn ready to meet its demise for a greater good. With a succession of small steps like these, the impact of our material society lessens and we begin to gain a foothold on true values.

Wet + Naked = Ideas
What is it about turning on the shower that instantly floods my mind with ideas and thoughts in a torrent of activity I can barely contain? I mean come on, I’m naked and never seem to have either a pen or piece of paper stashed anywhere useful. And I’m not talking about things I need to pick up the next time I’m at the grocery store (though they do pop up like debris in the floodwaters). I’m getting the solutions for never-ending problems at work, new ideas I should write about, a new discussion topic for my next meeting…I haven’t seen a solution for any global situations yet, but who knows when those will show up.
The amazing part is, no matter what secret memorization trick I try, the moment I turn off the water they’re gone. It’s as if my towel literally erases them from my mind like it was a white board.
In an attempt to contain them, I have tried a couple solutions, but neither the dry erase markers or the liquid eyeliner seem to have any staying power (and I was racking up $12 in cosmetics per shower at one point). I’ve thought about a waterproof Dictaphone (is that even still a word?) I think the only thing left is a grease pen, and I’m hesitant to try it because then I’m adding a whole element of clean up I don’t exactly have time for.
For now I’ve settled for dripping all over the floor while I try to hold my elbow at an unnatural angle to keep the paper from getting so soggy the pen won’t work anymore.
